I went paintballing tonight for the first time. It was fun, except having to skate across the floor. We were in the basement of some old building, so it was dark - and we had to wear a protective vest and a helmet thing. It was so hot in there though! I am totally worn out now though. It doesn't seem like you are doing a lot, but walking/running around for 2 hours with a gun in the heat apparently wears you out.
We also saw Transformers today. It was pretty good! I had to see the special effects on the big screen.
Hmm, what else. I also watched The Secret Life of Bees the other night from the Redbox. I <3 the Redbox. I don't understand what the big hype was about the movie though. I mean yeah, it was good (and I just finished the book before I watched it), but I don't get what the big hype was about it. Oh well.
So I've been thinking (yeah, bad I know) that I shouldn't think of this unemployment thing as a bad thing. I decided that I should view it as a good thing, like a sabbatical of sorts - time to work on myself and my personal goals. I mean, I've been off work for 4 months, and what do I have to show for it?! That's 1/3 of this year! I'm already enrolled in a class and will have my Medical Device Manufacturing Technician Certificate soon. I want to take some more classes (note to self, go to Work One office next week about classes), and try to get my Certified SolidWorks Associate (<ahref="http://www.solidworks.com/sw/support/796_enu_html.htm">CSWA</a>), and maybe some other certifications too. I've done a 5 mile race, and I've still got a 5k coming up in Sept. (not all necessarily career or education-related goals, obviously) I'm also thinking about becoming an ordained minister online, so I can do weddings and such. Hey, can't hurt to earn some extra cash, right? I've got all these possibilities, and I have all the time in the world to do them right now, so why don't I go after my goals??
I also want to start keeping track of the books I read this year, I want to start reading more often (it's pretty non-existant lately!). As I mentioned above, I finished The Secret Life of Bees. I also want to re-read Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince before I see the movie, and the same with My Sister's Keeper.
I also want to learn how to ride a motorcycle. I looked up the Basic Rider Courses here, and of course the closest training site is booked the rest of the sessions this year. The other sites have openings in September and October...a ways away!
I hope you all have had good weekends so far!
